Enriching the lifestyle of Cooroy and near hinterland towns
Project Highlights
Large 6.6 hectare site – opportunity to deliver new community services
Approximately 2/3rds of site available to include community led uses and existing vegetation.
Close connections to key roads and hinterland centres
Opportunity to deliver full line supermarket
Community consultation findings central to planning

Woven within the natural landscape of Cooroy, the site at 125 Myall Road Cooroy provides the opportunity to contribute to the surrounding hinterland lifestyle. Entwining a focus on sustainability, new local services and a welcoming place and leisure space for the community can complement the charm and friendliness of the local area.
As we begin to prepare a Development Application (DA) for a supermarket and other complementary uses, we are seeking local community input about additional services that would enrich and support the Cooroy and hinterland lifestyle.
We will be considering an overall design that reflects Cooroy’s heritage, and the unique village feel, with environmentally sustainable measures. We would like to hear your ideas before we progress with our plans.
The community is invited to contribute at an early stage to ensure plans best meet the needs of local people and their families.
For us, it’s important we hear from you to contribute to our plans, including services, design and integration with the fabric of the community.
Your feedback is important to us
The design of the site is in its early stages and local views are vital in shaping plans for the site.
Any plans will contribute to local jobs for the area, but also social and environmental outcomes and complement the charm and character of Cooroy.
We’d like to hear from you, the local residents, about what you’d like to see included to meet the needs of the local community.
For example, what do you want to see, or uses at the site that will meet current or future needs of the Cooroy community?

About the site
The site is zoned for Community Facilities. The site has sufficient land for uses in addition to a proposed Woolworths supermarket.
The vegetation fronting Myall Street will be retained as much as possible except for potential site access.
Primary access will most likely be from Myall Street, and sufficient on-site car parking would be provided on site.
As we masterplan the site, there is opportunity to deliver community led services, such as child care services for local families, accommodation for the elderly or provide health care, all sympathetic to the character and population of Cooroy.

Proposed Woolworths supermarket
A supermarket designed to meet the requirements of the local community is proposed on site, complemented by retained vegetation and new services for the community.
The supermarket will create new ongoing, local jobs, including opportunities for more young people to work locally. A full line supermarket will also reduce the need for residents to travel outside Cooroy to complete a large shop.
Customer convenience will be provided through on-site car parking, including a dedicated Direct to Boot service for groceries ordered online.
Community input is critical to ensure we design a place that complements the existing character of Cooroy and the hinterland.
We're seeking your input into the planned offer and design, along with any opportunities and issues we should consider as part of our detailed planning for the site. These include:
your ideas for the kinds of additional uses or services that would meet local needs
feedback on the look and feel of the project to reflect the Cooroy lifestyle
other feedback for the project team
Your feedback will be thoroughly considered before we prepare our Development Application.
We welcome your feedback

Planning background and status
We are in the early engagement phase and a Development Application has not yet been prepared or lodged with Council.
We are also seeking early community input before we complete a Development Application. We will use community feedback to help shape our Development Application.
The planning process also allows for community input during a future public notification phase. The future planning process is outlined below.
